I had a rough morning, Tuesday morning. Didn't sleep at all because the room was so cold and I had absolutely zero blankets. Sam inspected my room and I didn't get charged for the chipped paint! Or maybe she didn't see it because she was inspecting with a flashlight because Kaitlyn was asleep. I got to the airport, and the guy in the counter that checked me in last time checked me in today too and he recognized me! I had a flatbread pocket for breakfast along with an OJ. I was asked if I wanted to move up to row five because it was available and I said yes because the guy said there was no one sitting in the middle of that row. When I was about to enter the plane the crew members thought I was underage... What's new? And they were treating me like a baby, and asking for my passport, and I was like "I'm 19..." before they could ask anything else. I slept the whole flight and didn't even bother to breakfast. When I got here I had some KFC and did some grocery shopping :) At 6:30 I went on a date night with Rod to our usual, T.G.I. Friday's, and something funny happened. Rod ordered a salad and I ordered some Jack Daniel's ribs, and when the waitress set the food on the table she gave me the salad and Rod the ribs hahaha.
I woke up early on Wednesday, that is at 9 am, and had the green juice I prepared last night for breakfast. I drove to Parque Omar to run, and I hated it. I just hate the amount of hills that trail has... and to worsen it, the blazing sun on my face. I felt pretty tired and ran less than 5k! Next time I'll go run somewhere else, somewhere with no hills. After my run I went to my grandpa's house to visit them since they are flying to Dallas on Friday and I had a nice little chat with Apo until Acun came back, we hung out for like an hour and then I left because I was starving. I had mac and cheese with chicken tenders for lunch, what's new, right? I went to Rod's and we played some video games and ping pong :) Then I came back and finally finished my globalization essay! That means I'm officially over with college for now :) I also got my final grade for physics, and I got a B-!
I woke up at 9 am on Friday and went to Ciudad del Saber for a run, I'm not very fond of the many hills at El Parque Omar, so I wanted to try something new. The trail at the park in Ciudad del Saber is pretty neat, the only thing though, is that there's no shade at all. I ran 8k! And I finally made a training plan, I was going to go with no plan at all but with enough research I came to the conclusion that a plan is much needed. For dinner me and my mom went to Ruby Tuesday's and they had the yummiest pretzel burger I've ever tasted, and I'm not a fan of burgers so that's something. When we got out there was like a commotion going on and a part of the mall was closed, we didn't know what was going on and when we were driving home we saw an ambulance; Vivianne then texted in the group that there was a shooting at the mall :O and I was meters away! Ooh and I also bought a Garmin Forerunner 10 watch :3
On Tuesday I got the chance to sleep until noon because I had no physics lab but I ended up waking at 9:15 am... What bothers me is that I went to bed at around 2:30 am because I was finishing the fourth Harry Potter book and I really wanted the extra sleep, but oh well. This whole morning I've been looking into degree works and internships I could take next year, and I'm getting really depressed because my GPA is going to drop a lot thanks to calculus II and economics :( What if nobody hires me? I don't even see hiring material in me... Well I was finally able to register for Fall classes and I'm so happy because I got the schedule I wanted!!! Minutes before registering I search the calculus III class to see how many seats were left and it said 0, but when I registered I got a seat! I think they opened a couple of seats for the students registering today, either way, this has made me so happy! I also drove for the first time in the states! I was so nervous but the minute I backed out from the parking lot it felt like just any other day driving :) I went to Target to buy a trifold for my leadership presentation because the bookstore didn't have any and the trifold ended up looking good :) I was about to skip running this evening because when I finished my trifold it was already 7:30 pm and the sunset was at around 7:50 but I made up my mind last minute because if I skipped this one I would regret it. And so I went and ran 7.5k :)
Finally Thursday! I woke up at 3:45 and my shuttle got here early so I rushed to Holly Dr. and he wasn't there... He was kind of lost and I found him in the parking lot next to the MSC in front of the College of Arts. I got to the airport super early, and got to my gate around an hour or two prior boarding time. I had Popeye's for breakfast at 5 am because I was starving and catch up on some reading (Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix). I got lucky that the seat in the middle of my flight was empty, for a second I thought I had the whole row to myself but after the doors closed a gringo sat on the aisle seat. I think that wasn't his assigned seat thought, because he sat when we were preparing to take off and he knew the guy across the aisle. Damn him, I could have had the whole row to myself. When I landed my mom and grandparents came to pick me up and we went to Sheraton to eat sancocho where we met with my aunt too :) After that I went to me grandma's house to chill until Patty and her friends had dance practice for the choreography. We went to the local where the party is gonna be held and it looked cool. The decorations where halfway through and it looked really nice. It pained me that they used the pictures Patty took with another photographer and I think mine were far more better but oh well. Then my dad came and we three went to dinner at 'Leños y Carbon' which was yummy :) When I came back home I Skyped with Rod until my mom interrupted our call short. I also finished the whole box of the Soccer World Cup album stickers and then went to bed after a very VERY tiring day.
On Monday I had the Mickey Mouse Mac and Cheese for lunch, the Mac and Cheese I wanted so bad since 2006 or so. I bought it in Thanksgiving when I went to Magic Kingdom with my mom and Patty. They weren't the same as the one I used to have as a child but it was good nonetheless. After lunch I drove to my grandma's and took the wrong lane when going there because now we have all these new mini highways and tunnels. I ended driving an extra half an hour. I picked up Patty in Alfavinyl and Luis at his house and went to my grandma's. We filmed over a couple of scenes for the video we are going to present in my grandpa's secret 80th birthday party that is this Sunday. After filming all day I went to dinner with Alex and Jose to Conos. Which is a restaurant in San Francisco that serves these sushi kind of things but instead of a roll, in an algae cone. It wasn't that bad but the service was kind of below average. After eating we headed to my grandma's because Jose was going to install me Photoshop and Final Cut. Btw. Jose came to pick me up and Alex, isn't that sweet? After they left, Luis, Patty and I filmed some more and then I stayed the night at my grandma's because my mom didn't like the idea of me driving late at night.
On Tuesday I woke up around 11:30 and went to my grandpa's office, he gave me some of his gadgets for my camera since he doesn't use them anymore. I had steamed fish for lunch, I wasn't planning on staying for lunch but the moment I heard we were having fish I put my bags down. I tried to cut it the right way but it was just too hard so I had a little help from my grandma hehe. At 5 pm, Rod came over! And we watched Home Alone. We also just chilled a while after the movie and had a really good time :)
It started August, Monday 19th at 6:30 AM. I was really tired because I slept only about 4 hours the night before. I arrived and went on line. Got assigned to the green wrist color band in a group called "Bull Runner" and my OTL (Orientation Team Leader) was Juan Zapata (a Croatian in disguise - inside joke -). We gathered in the Castor Lawn and met the other members of our team. In my team there was Paige and Gabe from Pennsylvania, Shaine from Trinidad and Tobago, Margaret from Uganda, Brandon from Tampa, Rebecca from Orlando, Ryan from Canada, George from Kenya, Shady (I'm not sure how to spell it) from Egypt, Sherya from India, and Nicole from Mexico. I got to meet all of them and also discovered that Shady is also going to major in Mechanical Engineering. After meeting each other we learned the school's chants used for football games and stuff. GREEN GREEN GREEN, GOLD GOLD GOLD, GREEN GREEN GREEN, GOLD GOLD GOLD, USF. or also S O U T H F L O R I D A, SOUTH FLORIDA SOUTH FLORIDA GOOOOO BULLS! After that we went to the Marshall Student Center (MSC) for some lectures about college, we stayed there the whole morning. Then we had our first from many Bull Breakouts. We went to a special room just for the Bull Runners and got to meet each other even more, we also played games and it was really fun. Our OTL, Juan, was so funny and fun to be with. And then we finally had lunch, I had been starving because I barely touched my breakfast. We went to the Fresh Food Company (FFC) and I had some fries and turkey, next time I promise I'll have a salad. We all talked about different topics, such as sports and food. We continued with the lectures, this time about housing and stuff about drugs, alcohol and sex... So boring! Well after a long day of lectures and games we had a carnival at the MSC! I hung out with Margaret and we went to a couple of games and earned some money (to exchange for a prize later), I had a snow cone and she some cotton candy, we also made our own leather bracelet; mine says "*peace sign* SK *bull*". At first I was really apprehensive and didn't want to go to the carnival because of the tireless. But at the end I decided to stay and it resulted to be an awesome night! Suddenly all of my drained energy came back and I had a lot of fun with Margaret. At 11 PM I walked back to my dorm and unpacked my stuff. I unpacked everything I had and after that I fell asleep (of course after I skyped with Rod and finished the book I was reading). |

On 4:25 AM of Sunday 18th I woke up. I have prepared for this day years ago (and when I say years I mean more than 5). I was feeling excited but not as much as I would feel for a leisure travel, I was very nervous. I got washed and was ready. On our way to the airport it was really foggy, and drizzling. At the airport I said my good byes to my dad and went in side to get in line. While in line Alejandra calls asking where I was, she told me a couple of days before that she'd come to visit me. I never thought she would actually go before 6 AM to an airport just to say goodbye, but she and Zhanzhy came to say good bye. The plane ride was really empty and there were no screaming children compared to my February flight to Orlando. We even had the spot in the middle empty, so it was Max's seat. I slept and read the whole flight. I arrived and we went directly to Panda Express (my favorite restaurant in the US). I ordered my usual: Noodles and double portion of broccoli beaf. After lunch we went to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy my bed sheets but they were out of the ones I wanted so we went to Tampa. A two hour drive. There were 3 traffic jams due to 3 car crashes. One was off the road in the woods up side down! I finally arrived at 5:30 PM and we bought the bed sheets. I went to USF. My first time in USF. And I checked in. There's no lift in Delta so I had to carry my bags one floor. First day in Tampa: Success. Rest of the days I'll be here in Tampa: Beyond Success.
