Week #44: Movies with Courtney Part II (02.24.14 - 02.28.14)

On Monday I was so tired because of the sleep deprivation I had from the weekend. I searched for a couple of online jobs because I want to earn some extra money, I hope I get the job; they are translator and transcribing jobs. I made myself go to math class since I missed the last one, and damn this shit is hard. I also received two packages today, some clothes from Forever 21 (got myself a unicorn onesie!) and the last gift from Patty's surprise birthday present :)

On Tuesday I had no physics lab so I went for a run. I ran 3.22 km (my farthest run) and I was giving up halfway through, I finished though. I was texting with Ale about being fit and stuff, I'm glad I have a friend on the same boat as me :) After leadership class I headed to the library with a couple of bananas, a Ziploc with popcorn and a water bottle to do some school work. I finished my economics homework, and studied for the quiz, but I had a hard time focusing in physics. Instead, I used my time to google future Disney Marathons which is definitely a must for me in the future. I'm gonna ask Courtney if she'd like to join me, if not, I guess I'll go by myself. And to wrap up the evening I saw Frozen for the first time, it was an okay movie. I liked it but it felt like it needed more material, more loops or whatever.

On Wednesday I had the "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" song from Frozen stuck in my head, I was driving Ricardo mad haha. I also did awesome on the quiz! I got the practical question right! A good way to start the day. I also got a call from Alex, which was nice since I kind of miss her and it makes me feel needed :) I feel confident that I didn't get an F in my physics exam if that helps XD I was struggling at first but after a couple of tries I got the answers in the multiple choice. I also officially registered in the Disney's 10 Miler run this October 4th! I also book the hotel and everything :3 I'm gonna stay at the Disney's All-Star Movie Resort, so far I'm going by myself though. I also got a reply on a job application I sent to work at INTO USF, I'm not really sure what the job was about because I applied to several all at once but I think I know which is it. I have a group interview next week :)

On Thursday I woke up early, 9 am, to go for a run. Gosh, this run beat me up man, I was so tired. I have this pain on my right side whenever I run and I don't know what it is but it's a sharp pain. After my run I went to Publix to grab some groceries. I was planning on going to Busch Gardens but the day is so gloomy today, it's 13 degrees outside. I spent the rest of my day watching Harry Potter and being a silly cat :3 I checked the tracking on the headphones I bought from Target because a couple of days ago it went from Orlando to Jacksonville which was very odd; today it says it's in Atlanta! I got so mad and call every available costumer service, at the end I got my rerun back... But I really wanted those headphones for this weekend. Guess I'll have to go to Target to see if they have them. And at around 10 pm my mom and dad called me to talk about our trips this summer, thank God I'm still going to Italy this summer (I'm so happy in the inside!). Instead of traveling Europe we are going to travel through Asia since my dad really wants to travel to China.

I woke up early on Friday to go see the Lego Movie with Courtney! We had fun, and the movie was bleh/ok. After that we went to Pollo Tropical since Courtney has never been there! And then we went to Target because I had to buy the earbuds that don't fall off your ears when running, she bought an auxiliary cable so we listened to disney classics on our way back; we also each bought a packet of Jelly Beans, and at first I was like mmm I don't know why I didn't like them as a kid, but then the strange flavors came over and ugfwkjkduw :S.

Week #43: DISNEY ESCAPADE (02.17.14 - 02.23.14)

I had a rough night Sunday night, I woke up when the sky was still dark and when I grid to go go to sleep Kaitlyn started snoring and that happened about three times throughout the night, and to top it off on Monday morning she made the loudest noises when getting ready accompanied by my other roommate's noises. I finished the physics homework all on my own, and I feel so proud. I skipped physics to go to an advisor meeting for the calculus II paper and since I told him I liked roller coasters he assigned me a roller coaster calculus based problem. I had Pollo Tropical for lunch and then headed for a run on the trail. This is week #3 of my "from couch to 5k" and I'm really feeling the difference you know. Every time I run a little further and I'm also using the CharityMiles app to donate for every mile I walk/run, and I donated 7 meals in this run which is 4.5 km. I Penny boarded to calculus class and let me tell you, I'm so fucking proud of myself! I skated the whole time, not only on downhills and didn't fall at all, I also understood today's calculus section which is a plus squared! Today was a good Monday, they are rare, so it's important to write that down.

On Tuesday I had an appointment with my advisor and I asked him about the possibility of a leadership minor to which he said to decided that upon if I felt too packed the next semester since I'm taking a whole bunch of science classes. Today's leadership class was a little boring because the Ethics in Leadership professor came to cover up for Stacy at the middle of the class, it was a bit interesting because we had to move around the room but it felt endless. I went for a run and halfway through I felt a piercing pain in on right, I finished the run but I feel like I could have done ten times better if I wasn't in pain. I also got done all of my physics homework in one sitting which is a miracle, and a blessing because that means I don't have to work on it this weekend. And I'm not ashamed at all that I used Google to finish 80% of this homework haha that stuff was hard!

On Wednesday I had a fun time with Ricardo on Engineering Economics class, we started drawing silly things and making up stories about it, Ricardo kept firing missiles on my stuff :( We also had a competition about who could draw the best Harry Potter stuff XD I'm so ready for Orlando! I just finished packing and I also skipped calculus class because jeez, that class kills me to death. Just bought some headphones that are meant for running and don't fall off your ears because the ones I use keep falling, these are called Yurbuds and it had awesome reviews, I also fell into the monogram trend and bought myself a 20 oz. mason jar with my monogram, I've been looking for mason jars just to put my green smoothie on but the ones I have are kind of small, so this 20 oz. should make a big difference. Since I bought the Harry Potter book series I decided to start reading it, so I began with the Chamber of Secrets.

Finally Thursday! My fun weekend finally begins, I woke up at 9 am and got ready, went to Fresh Foods to eat some breakfast and used my camera lens cup for the first time for this morning's tea. Tio Ricky pulled over exactly where I was waiting for him and we went to Busch Gardens! I finally got to experience how was it like to skip line with Rafa's handicap, yet the park was kind of vacant so we didn't do any lines at all. It was super fun! It was so awkward though when it was lunch time because I don't want him to pay for my food, yet he did. For dinner we went to Red Lobster and I had a Shrimp Linguini Alfredo, we had fun and talked lots over dinner time. At almost midnight we got home and their home was really cozy and simple, I had my own room next to Rafa and I had a TV.

On Friday morning Tia Betty made me biscuits with ham for breakfast, using the biscuits we took out from Red Lobster the night before which were to die for. We went to Hollywood Studios! We went to the Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Muppets, Beauty and the Beast, and I finally got to go to the new Toy Story ride which is similar to the Buzz Lightyear one in Magic Kingdom; we rode Toy Story three times! Using Rafa's handicap and it was amazing! I love that attraction! The first two round Tio Ricky beat me 127,000 - 133,000 and 136,000 - 161,600 but the third round I beat him 161,600 - 132,000!! I got overly excited about that haha and we had fun with it. I also had my much needed Frozen Banana covered in Chocolate and we had Turkey Legs for lunch. I got to see Fantasmic which was the main reason I wanted to come here and it was amazing, I obviously knew what was going to happen but every time I'm mesmerized by Mickey's awesomeness. Before coming on this trip I was really nervous with Rafa because I didn't know how to be with him you know, but I got to know him and felt really comfortable with him, he's awesome. He kept saying 'mardigras' haha, Tia Betty said he got that stuck in his head when they went to Universal Studios. For dinner we went to a Chinese buffet, I wasn't surprised by the food but oh well, it was a buffet. As long as it's all-you-can-eat I eat it.

Saturday was my last full day with the Kam's and we went to Animal Kingdom. It as been so long since I have come here and there was not much to see plus it was raining on and off so the day was not as enjoyable. We went to Everest twice and I sat next to Rafa. I was kind of happy my aunt and uncle trusted me to sit next him because we have to remind him to put his head back and to assure he's buckled up. Everest was far off better than I remembered. We also went to Dinosaur, the safari in which we saw plenty of animals! I kid you not when I say the lion was 20 meters from us looking directly at us. We also went to the Nemo Musical and the Bugs show. We left early because of the rain and I accompanied my aunt and uncle to Costco so they could run some errands. I went to mass with them and I was amazed by the church; the seats where soft, we each had a booklet with the year's lectures, and it was all so pretty and big. For dinner we went to IHOP and I had a strawberry and banana pancake which was delicious.

And the last day of my vacation arrived, we woke up extra early so my uncle could drop me off at the Bus Station. I slept most of the ride back to Tampa and then I hopped onto a HART bus to get to USF.  It was a super awesome weekend, and Tio Ricky and Tia Betty are the greatest host. Cheers to my first trip with them. I only wish Richie and Raul could've come.

Truth About School

Why are we defined by test grades? Why are lecture classes three credits and three hour science labs one credit? I believe that science labs should be taken into greater account since in life our jobs won't be in any way similar to multiple choice questions, as an engineer our life will revolve around technical problems very similar to our laboratories where we will have to write reports and analyze our data using the concepts we learned in lecture classes rather than solving an unrealistic theoretical problem and picking the best answer out of four and being smart enough to avoid tricky questions.

Engineers should be defined by laboratories instead of lecture classes, and I don't find it fair that our schools minimize labs credit hours and prioritize lecture classes. Either way, we are actually learning in our lab classes what we are supposed to learn in lecture classes, so why have tests at all?

Lonely Valentine

Today is Valentine's Day, and this is the 2nd Valentine's I'm not with Rod, or maybe the third I'm not sure haha. I for sure remember when I was in L.A. after Taiwan and he was back in Panama. Anyway, although we are 1345 miles away, he bought me a cookie! How sweet? And well... He ate it haha. That momo!

And it is going to be like this for the next three years or more, depending on my masters :( I just really miss having a decent date with him just like our last date we had for our 3rd anniversary in my favorite steak restaurant, La Hacienda Real. I even dressed up nicely for that evening.

Although, we were not together for Valentine's I still feel that this is just another day but with a special name. I don't love him more because it's Valentine's Day, but I do show my love for him in Instagram so that I have an excuse to post a picture of us, lol.

To my forever valentine,

I love you.

Week #42: VALENTINE'S WITHOUT ROD :( (02.10.14 - 02.14.14)

On Monday I got my calculus II test back, and I did better than expected. I got a 72.5 :) I went to the library after class and tried to read through my economics material since I have a test on Wednesday and I did the best I could. I bought a hot chocolate at Starbucks to drink while studying but it was so nasty, it lacked sugar or something like that. I feel like a real blogger now, my Starbucks to the left, a TMNT sweatshirt on and my legs crossed; the only thing missing is for me to be sitting in Starbucks instead of the library.

On Tuesday I had my physics lab, and it was a good lab :) I also had my leadership class, this one was a little bit more tedious but I still like it. I have that economics test on Wednesday and my plan is to study Wednesday morning, lol. Also, Tio Ricky arrived to Orlando, and that means: Disney World next week!I also had Panda Express for dinner, and that made me feel back so from now on I'm gonna be healthier! I also ran in the trail today, following the "from couch to 5k" workout.
This was my view when running, pretty isn't it?

On Wednesday I woke up super early, 7:30 am, because I wanted to study before the test; besides, I asked Ricardo if he wanted to study together and he said Wednesday morning. Breakfast was not that good... The place smelled horrible and it seemed like nobody noticed, plus there weren't any biscuits! I came to the coffee shop at the bookstore to study while drinking my hot chocolate. I got to read a whole chapter, and when it was 9:15, Ricardo bailed on me.

On Thursday I biked all the way to 7-Eleven at Fletcher to pay my Grehound ticket since the website was not accepting my credit card, it was chilly outside, and afterwards I went to Publix to do some grocery shopping since I had none left. It's so weird how I know all the streets and routes I have to take, I finally feel kind of at home; but without the family and friends part *sigh. When I got back I just chilled and did nothing for a while, I worked out a little in my room and watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince before going to bed. I was suppose to go on a run but it was so chilly I changed my mind.

Happy Valentine's Day! This is my 4th year with Rod as my valentine! <3 and he got me a cookie, lol, even though we are 1345 miles away! (Yes, I googled that). Either way.. He ate the cooke hahaha. I also went for a run this morning and ran 4.20 km, I obviously didn't run the whole time but I'm def getting better. I met up with Courtney to do some physics homework and I gave her a Hershey's bar and a Resse's Pieces. She let me have two of her Resse's Pieces and now I like that chocolate :) I ordered pizza for dinner to celebrate valentine's day by myself, lol; jk, I guess I'll Skype with Rod tonight :) I also discovered why I didn't got accepted into PSU! I got a letter saying that they didn't accept transfer students for mechanical engineering, lol, they should have told me that when I applied don't you think? I also did laundry since I'm wearing my last pair of clean undies, hehe.

Got a New Haircut!

Finally I cut my hair after what felt like years (actually around 6 months) and I decided to cut my bangs shorter. I haven't had my bangs so short since senior year when I used to cut my own hair. I went to Super Cuts for the second time and I really loved what they did, Maria was my hair dresser and she did an amazing job. I think this is one of the only, if not the only, times that I've been truly satisfied when looking at myself in the mirror right after the hair stylist is done.

This haircut has resulted awesome for windy days since I biked to Target afterwards to get a few things, and I also went for a run today and I didn't have to pin my bangs back. Now I can just tie my hair in the back and my bangs don't bother me when running! I'm so happy and I just wish it doesn't grow out too fast.

Week #41: From Couch to 5k (02.03.14 - 02.07.14)

On Monday I was very tired and stressed, I got to finish the physics homework due that day but I got a 45% on the homework due Wednesday and I am SO MAD! It was the multiple choice that takes points if you miss the questions, and it was so tricky! I hate you Newton. I went to the library to try to study for calculus and did a bit but not much, I came back and I wanted to Skype with Rod so bad but he fell asleep :( I also got my last two birthday presents, the Konstructor camera kit and my Harry Potter bracelet, I absolutely loved the bracelet; but the camera kit stressed me out because there's something that doesn't fit so I just left it alone.

On Tuesday I just had physics lab since the Fundamentals of Leadership class got cancelled, and I did well on the lab. I've been procrastinating all day, I even Skyped with Rod during the day. I was browsing through my blog (procrastinating, ehem) and felt so happy while scrolling down my photography posts, I feel so happy I got to do all the things I've done and to have the opportunity of having a good camera :) After procrastinating I manned up and got through 3/4 of my economics material. At 7 pm I went to the gym and got on the treadmill for the first time, obviously I feel more comfortable at the elliptic but I wanted to try it out... Well, looks like I'll keep using the elliptic. I also had a yoga class and the instructor was absent again.. and we got a pilate instructor AGAIN! I really miss doing actual yoga :( Anyway, I feel pretty proud of myself because although I had Moe's for lunch, I had nothing else for dinner than mandarines and tea :3

Wednesday was a very busy day, I had a quiz and my first calculus II test. I felt proud of myself for sitting down for what felt like hours in the library working on calculus problems. I also did a much needed laundry since I was wearing my last pair of clean underwear. I had Subway for dinner, which I haven't had in a long time and it was good :) And at the end of the day I spent the night at Pinterest, and I came up with a new goal since I kinda broke my "don't break the chain" thing (kinda... I can still make it work though). My new goal for the next couple of months is: from couch to 5k. Whenever I run I always try to run the 5k the first time, but now I'm gonna stick to the plan that I found.

On Thursday I met up with Courtney so I could help her with her calculus homework and work together on our physics homework as well. We got to finish the physics homework and then headed to the MSC to get some food because I was starving, we ended both eating Moe's which I thought was a bad thing because of the health factor but they put so much cheese on my burrito I now dislike Moe's. Like, I'm typing this and I can still taste the shit load of cheese I had in my burrito. After that Courtney was kind enough to drive me to the Study Abroad office so I could hand in my application for Florence and Jim, the study abroad *some high position, was so funny (a little weird) and made us laugh the whole stay. Courtney is thinking about studying abroad in Scotland so she got to learn a few things she didn't know. After that Courtney dropped me off at my dorm and I went grocery shopping, got some fruits, yogurt, and ingredients for my tofu wraps. I started the "from couch to 5k" program and I ran what I was suppose to run, I was surprise that I was tired at the end because it didn't seem like a big workout but geez, I ran 3.08 km which is the most I've ran in the last three months or so, and the fastest too.

On Friday I skipped the economics class because I was very sleepy, I went to the academic advisor's office to get my course approval form approved for study abroad and then I fell into a deep depression... I can't apply to the Senacyt scholarship because I have to be there to get some papers signed so that means I'm stuck here until graduation day... I also got denied by Penn State which I don't get because I have better grades and a higher SAT score than last time. I'm so frustrated with myself and I just wanna die, like this is the first time I've felt I don't wanna be here anymore... Obviously that's not going to happen because I'm not that stupid but that's how it honestly feels. I tried to bring positive thoughts so feel less sad, I hope I can do my masters in UC San Diego or McGill, that would really make me feel better in the future. I also went to my coach meeting with Justin Fitzgerald for the Certified Student Leadership program and I like Justin :)I also went for a run and actually ran faster and longer than last time :D and lastly I finished my leadership paper :D I also had pizza bites for dinner and that makes me feel bad :( gotta do some abs now haha. Uhh and it was rainy all day, so I ran in the rain with my rain coat haha.

Tuesday, February 4, 2014

You know me, I'm a shopaholic, and when it's about something healthy that promotes a positive change I go all crazy. I've been searching for a fifth brand of tea, in search of the perfect flavor; walking through Target I saw a brand called Good Earth, it caught my attention because of it's label and presentation, then I saw that it was citrus flavored so I bought it.

When opening the package and taking a sniff of the tea bag I immediately backed off, it didn't smell so good and it definitely didn't smell like green tea. After putting the tea bag in my mug and waiting for it to cool off a little I smelled it again, and it wasn't as disgusting as smelling the raw tea bag but it smelled like a bag a sugary sweetness (but like a shit load of it). The taste, it was totally unexpected. It tasted a little bit light, but with a touch of lemon grass? I'm not even sure what my taste buds are experiencing but it's not that bad. It surely isn't the best one I've tasted but whenever I feel like drinking something sugary I'll def drink this tea.

Something weird about this tea is that it's suppose to be green tea with a touch of citrus but I don't feel the green tea at all.

In other news, I bought a little cardboard-lunchbox to keep all my tea bags so I don't have a clutter of millions of tea boxes. Since the cover is plain I plan on painting something tea related with some Sharpies :)

Week #40: 19th Birthday Yo! (01.27.14 - 02.02.14)

On Monday I had a homemade wrap for lunch with tofu in it, I'm loving these wraps :) I mostly did nothing actually... read some material for the leadership class, did an assessment test for that class to which finds your strengths. Btw. It said that my strengths are futuristic, empathy, relator, arranger, positivity. I agree on all of them except the second one, which surprises me because it landed on second place. I Penny boarded to calculus II and there was this down hill on the way and I decided to go for it, all the way down I just thought *balls of steel Stacy, balls of steel*, and Thank God, I am alive with no new bruises or scratches. I also got two packages in the mail! The first one I was expecting was from Forever 21, I was so excited for my new purse and I love it! The second package was from Target and I was like "wut?" I texted my mom asking if it was hers and she was like "", so I opened it. It contained two pairs of jeggins, and then I remember Alex texting me that she saw a girl with leggins and she reminded her of me so I texted her and indeed the package was from her! It was suppose to arrive on my birthday but it got early, she also wrote two short messages which where almost impossible to find haha. I loved those jeggins :)

On Tuesday I had my second physics lab and it was okay, we got everything right. I got a 18/20 in my first lab which makes me really happy, however, I got a 0.5/2 in my pre-lab :( I don't know if the pre-lab sums to the actual lab or if it's a separate grade but when the TA saw my lab score he said that I was alright. I also wore one of the jeggins Alex got me with my Captain America shirt :) Ooh, btw. Happy National Blueberry Pancake Day! Yeah, that's a thing haha; the dining hall had a poster about it and was serving blueberry pancakes so I had one for breakfast. I went to my Fundamentals of Leadership class, and omg, I just LOVE that class. I feel so at ease when talking about experiences or opinions, and I love the activities we do. This class we had a scavenger hunt of strengths. It's just so much fun how you can learn and have fun at the same time, I think this is the first academic class in which I have experienced that. I feel so stressed out because I'm not gonna have time at all this weekend to do school work because I'm gonna be gone all four days and I have so much to do! I went to yoga class and surprise, surprise! Maury (our usual yoga instructor) wasn't there and we got a sub, a Pilates teacher sub, so we did more abs than yoga! And I really needed yoga because I'm so stressed out :(

On Wednesday I had an economics quiz and I missed about three which makes me really sad :( I also had a physics exam and I hope I do go, I think I got the majority right and it's also t-score graded thank God. The weather has been cold, around 10 degrees and it was raining and I got wet. I received a package in the mail, and it was the casetagram cases I ordered for me and my mom! They are not the way I thought it would be, but they're okay.

On Thursday I went to the Florida Aquarium and had dinner in Olive Garden.

On Friday I went to Busch Gardens and had Chinese take out for dinner.

On Saturday I went to the International Plaza to do some shopping and got tons of stuff, also I got some things for Patty's surprise birthday present.

And Sunday was Happy Birthday to me!! I went to the Airheads Trampoline Indoor Arena and bounced like a rabbit :) Afterwards I had dinner in Chili's and ended the day watching the Super Bowl in which the Seattle Seahawks won! Yes!
